It is a pharmaceutical care centered medical technical department, encompassingthe purchase of drugs, supplying of drugs, dispensing, medicine management, clinical pharmaceutical care and pharmaceutical science and education.

Department setting:The Pharmacy department consists of VIP department, outpatient pharmacy, inpatient pharmacy, traditional Chinese medicine pharmacy, drug warehouse, intravenous drug dispensing center, dispensing room for oral drug and clinical pharmacy, covering an area of more than 2,000 square meters.

Department features:The department is constantly promoting an information-based intelligent modern pharmacy. In 2021 we launched the automatic dispensing system for oral drug in outpatient pharmacy and Chinese medicine granules in traditional Chinese medicine pharmacy. We are always responsible for reviewing drug prescription and dispensing, allocating intravenous drug, monitoring rational drug use ,monitoringsideeffects of the medications, counseling medication use, and anticipating in MDT treatment team and other precision medicine related work.

Professional and competent pharmacy team:The departmenthas 13 professional pharmacists, including 1 deputy chief pharmacist and 5competent pharmacists, 2 with PhDs, 4 with master’s degree, 7 with Bachelor's degree. We have one member act as clinical pharmacy teacher, and 10 pharmacists with prescription review ability certification, 2 clinical pharmacists who have completed the national training program. There are staff members serve as the member of Chinese Pharmacological Society, Chinese Pharmaceutical Association, Chongqing Stroke Association and Chongqing Association of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, ect. And one member act as the editorial board member of magazines such as Chinese Pharmacy, Drug Treatment Network, Evaluation and Analysis of Drug use in Chinese Hospitals, China Pharmaceutical Industry, International Laboratory Medicine, ect.

Pharmaceutical science and education: Research emphasis of the pharmacy department includes the administration of hospital pharmacy, drug economics, evidence-based and rational drug use, etc. In recent years, the department has been granted one project by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and has published more than 19 peer-reviewed papers, including 6 SCI papers. Some department members are responsible for undergraduate course of Chongqing Medical University (clinical pharmacology).

The department has always adhered to the "patient-centered" principle, constantly improved the level of pharmaceutical practice, and has always dedicated to providing high-quality pharmaceutical care for patients and ensuring the safety, effectiveness and economy of clinical drug use.
