The Department of Anesthesiology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University was established in 1999.It became municipal key discipline of anesthesiology in Chongqing in 2007, and featured specialty construction project of Chongqing colleges and universities in 2010. In 2020, anesthesiology was selected as a state-level online and offline hybrid first-class course in Chongqing. In the same year, it was selected as First-class major undergraduate construction site in Chongqing and major residential training base of anesthesiology. In 2021, it was selected as the national first-class undergraduate major construction point.

Since 2011, the teaching and scientific research has achieved fruitful achievements. It has been approved as the National Key Clinical Specialty construction project of the Ministry of Health, the National Training Base for Director of Anesthesia of Primary Hospitals of Chinese Society of Anesthesiology, Anesthesia Quality Control Center ofChongqing, AndprovincialtrainingcenterofPrimary TraumaCare (PTC)inChina.National Clinical Trial and Research Center for New Drugs (GCP), Trauma and Emergency Anesthesia, Regional and Nerve Block, Blood Management Training Center ofChinese Society of Anesthesiology. The department is equipped with 45 operating rooms,22 PACU beds and medicalfacilities and devices worthy of 62.29 million yuan .

The department has 68 anesthesiologists and 198 nurses with an average age of 35, including 7 professors, 17 associate professor, 1 doctoral supervisor and 12 master supervisors. The department of Anesthesiology adheres to the concept of "benefiting the doctor and the patients", which always participates in various surgical procedures, promotes up-to-date techniques,builds a clinical platform for perioperative safety,provides surgical patients with anesthetic medical service of national level and promotes quality of life !
