The Department of Orthopedics of the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University was established in 1958. The department was originally affiliated huashan hospital and Zhongshan Hospital of Shanghai Medical College. Therefore, since its establishment, it has been having a great influence in the orthopedic academic circle of southwest China and even the whole country, and its academic and technology is leading in southwest China and advanced in China. Through the hard work and continuous innovation of previous experts and professors, it has developed into a discipline with a strong faculty and strong academic strength, which can not only recruit and train high-level talents, but also undertake major scientific research tasks.

With more than 60 years of development, on the basis of its scale and advanced medical technique, The Department of Orthopedic Surgery has become one of most famous orthopaedic surgery center both in Chongqing and Southwest of China. The Department of Orthopedic Surgery contains 7 Orthopedic subspecialties, including Joint surgery, Spine surgery, Trauma surgery, Hand surgery, Foot and Ankle surgery, Bone oncology and Sports medicine. Director of Orthopediacs now is serving as the vice chairman of Chinese Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. We have 7 doctoral supervisors distributed in different subspecialties, more than 90% of our doctoral faculties hold both PHD and MD degree.

Orthopedics Department of Jinshan Campus was officially established on May 12, 2015, with 41 open beds. Attached to the strong support of the hospital main campus, under the leadership of Director Huang Wei and Professor Jiang Dianming, the experts and professors of the department of Orthopedics of the first Affiliated hospital of Chongqing Medical University established a professional medical team of spine, joint, trauma and foot and ankle, which opened up a new situation of orthopedics medical treatment, teaching and scientific research in Jinshan Campus.
